We start the day with an eco-warrior walk along the coast of port Lincoln. We’re each given a bag to collect rubbish as we walk which the kids really get into. It’s a pleasant walk and Port Lincoln is nice enough, but it’s not the most picturesque place we’ve been to.
After the walk, Dan drives us down to Whalers Way, so that we can see the ocean and get a glimpse of the sea lions. We’re greeted with a strong wind and a dramatic view, but we do get to see the sea lions resting on the rocks below.
Next, we drive to Mikkira Station Koala Sanctuary for a quick Look at the kangaroos and koalas. We’re all excited to see the animals and since we’re the only ones there, we get to see them up close.
On the way out of Mikkira Station, the bus screeches to a halt as is the usual form, and Dan gets everyone out to admire a blue-tongued skink that is crossing the road. It’s a strange creature, that looks similar at both ends.
We then drive back to camp for lunch - wraps as usual!
After a shower and a change of clothes, we then head off to the wine tasting at Boston Bay Wines. They have live music, and it’s very loud so difficult to hear anything the lady is telling us about the wine. We order a sharing platter to share with the Boshier’s and have a glass of wine each after we’ve tried the various options. The Reisling is very nice, quite light, and we buy a bottle to take with us.
It’s then back to camp for dinner and more drinks. Chicken stir-fry with rice for dinner, which everyone enjoys by the fire.
There are lots of people turning up with their campers, which has spoilt the vibe somewhat. We put out our swags early so that no one takes our spots which are the only areas sheltered from the wind.
We spend the evening playing the animal game around the fire with everyone over drinks and then to bed.
