We wake up at 5:15, finish packing and go to collect the children from their room. To Bella’s credit, they were all ready to go, and waiting for us downstairs in the lobby! They also ensured to mention that we were two minutes late!

After walking the 5 mins to the metro we wait for the express train to the airport and board with our luggage. It’s busy and everyone’s headed to the airport with their luggage.

We exit the metro with nothing left on our IC cards, having calculated it perfectly!

The discount gods have not smiled on us today and it’s too expensive to upgrade to premium economy, so we’ll just have to slum it on the way home!

Once we’ve checked in and dropped our bags we head through security and stop for breakfast. Diana and I have sushi platters, Bella has the onigiri I bought yesterday and Alex orders ramen.

We do some last minute shopping for supplies before heading to the gate and boarding.

sad leaving japan selfie

We’ve had such a wonderful time in Japan and so many once-in-a-lifetime experiences, we’re so thankful that we could do it with the kids.

We’ve loved how polite everyone is, how clean and organised it is everywhere, and we were not expecting everyone to be so friendly, welcoming and helpful as they were. The food was absolutely amazing and I have not missed western food one bit! We would definitely like to go back again in the future and explore some more!
